Harry Crabtree: Most Agreeable Award



This years Oscars were named the "You Rock Awards". Connections Director, Pam Mitchell, gathered thoughtful recommendations from peers

and associates and created some of her own special awards for the Awards at our Annual Oscar event. Juniper delights in reading the "My Life Story" of each resident upon move in, to assist in transitioning and learning the qualities about each resident that makes them special. We use those My Life Stories as the root of some of our programming...however, it is the day to day experiences that incited these comical and special moments that were created from the Awards.

Jennifer Musone, Administrator, served as MC of the event. The red carpet was rolled out and the room was adorned in gold stars and plenty of beautiful smiles! One of the highlights of the evening was the loving banter between one of our married couples as their awards were delivered.

Wilda Urban: Most Tolerant Award

Stanley Urban won the good to the last drop award. "Stanley loves his coffee so much so that he reminds us of a Folger's coffee commercial, and just like the commercial, Stanley is good to the last drop, with his shining personality and infectious laugh." Wilda Urban won the most tolerant award. "Some of you may think that we gave this award to Wilda for being married to Stanley for the past 58 years, but in fact we gave her this award as she is most tolerant of us trying to locate her favorite wheat bread. Guess what Wilda, we got it!" This award delivered many laughs! Another laughable moment was that of Louise Walker's award: The Sam Walton Award. "On any given Saturday, you can enter our local Walmart and find Louise and her lovely daughters shopping. We decided to give her the Sam Walton Award because we are convinced that he has to appreciate all of the wealth he has accumulated as a result of Saturdays at Walmart!"

The sweetest reaction was that of one resident whose award brought tears to her eyes, as she reacted "I didn't expect this at all!" Moments like those only remind us that our mission to Nurture the Spirit of Life in each individual whose life we touch truly is happening! Thank you to all of the family, friends and associate
support given to this special event. We hope to see you next year!

The Old-Newlywed Game

What could these folks possibly be doing? The lobby was in stitches as 2 of our married couples played along in the Old-Newlywed Game!

They were asked questions which threw them back to memories past. The faces and reactions were priceless!  Instead of the beloved Newlywed game, this is the Old-Newlywed game!  Just to see how well 2 of our married couples know eachother after all these years!

Oh! The Places You'll Go!

Students from Seton School walked down today to celebrate the Birthday of Dr. Seuss! According to experts, we hear he is turning 108 today! Jennifer Musone, administrator, read the book "Oh! The Places You'll Go!" to kick off the festivities. In celebration, the students wore hats and read to the residents from some of their own favorite Dr.Seuss books. One resident, Sharlene Peterson, had a special request to have Hunter Hanaway read to her. Sharlene met Hunter around Valentine's Day when the kids were in for their last visit. In fact, it came out in conversation that both like to play the Wii! Hunter and Sharlene both look forward to a Wii tournament of sorts in the future here at Juniper! Wii fitness and bowling have become a fun part of the lives of our Residents and just one way we stay active! After the reading, everyone gathered to cut the cake and sing Happy Birthday to two of the students who share their Birthdays with Dr. Seuss. The cake was delicious and festive.

A special Thank you to Pam Mitchell, Connections Director, for coordinating this fun activity! As we continue into performance month, please accept our invitation to our Annual Night at the Oscars on March 8th at 5:30pm. If you have a friend or loved one at Juniper...it's entertaining, even comical at times, and a very special event for all of our Residents! Each Resident will receive a special Oscar award. This is one you won't want to miss.

Flower Arranging

Flower arranging is common around Juniper Village.  Wellness Director, Carol Perrin takes a moment to enjoy the donated flowers and lead some ladies in a quick demonstration of flower arranging.  Carol perfects the "Art of Caring" as she Nurtures the Spirit of Life in each of our Residents!
