What's brewing?

Residents Jean Wood and Lucille Echnoz take a moment to sniff out the progress in the wine making class held at Juniper Village. "Smells like Bread!" someone chimed in. Rich Pittner from Windy Hill Wine making stopped by the Lafayette Tavern again last week for one of the final steps prior to bottling the delicious Strawberry Merlot. Residents tasted a few samples of wine in order to vote on how sweet the wine they are brewing should be. Some like it dry. It's a matter of preference, and our folk's like it sweet! Funneling the wine into the carboy was interesting. We learned that keeping all of the equipment in the process sterile was the key to safe and healthy wine making. We look forward to bottling the wine in the next few weeks and sharing a toast at Happy Hour on Fridays at 2:30pm. Thank you, Rich, for another great educational addition to our connections program.
