Capturing the moments

Deck the halls with smiles and laughter...photos now adorn the hall way in the main corridor at Juniper Village at Meadville. The photo project began this winter, when the cold and biting weather kept most of us inside. I started to think of ways to warm up our cozy home and bring the joyful moments we share to light. I took on this creative challenge and began to search for an idea. Ideas often find us when we least expect it.

It was an especially cold and blustery day, during one of my home visits with a family, their mother began showing me the family portraits that cascaded down the stairwell and hallways. Years of love and companionship were on display and the answer was staring me in the face! The project was then given a name, "The Alive In All Seasons Photo Project." Yes, I realize that isn't the most creative title, however, by giving it a name, I had hoped it would take on a life of its own...and it did.

I thought about the spirit of the project and what we should capture. The journey of searching out those magical moments and collecting photographs of everyday Connections Activities began. Pretty soon, the project had reached its goal and we were ready to frame. The best part of the project has been to see the smiles of the resident's faces as they recognize themselves and reminisce with their friends and family.

You are invited in to see the progress of the photo project that will soon expand into other areas. While you are here, take notice of the new Bistro in the Alden Room. Families and Residents are encouraged to join in a cup O joe during their visit.Posted by Picasa

New Beginnings: What is Juniper Village?

Juniper Village is a residential community offering personal care services in a warm community atmosphere. Residents enjoy 3 meals per day with laundry, housekeeping, maintenance, utilities in one monthly fee. For added peace of mind, assistance with medications and personal care is available. So, what is it really like? I invite you to come in for a tour.

Marion Wills continues to enjoy life long activities through her New Beginnings transition here at Juniper Village. Her talent is inspiring and she is encouraged to live her life to the fullest.

Marion embraced the essence of Juniper's philosophy: Nurturing the Spirit of Life. She also continues to connect with other residents to build lasting friendships, share her talents and Nurture her own spirit daily.

When families and individuals are considering Juniper Village at Meadville, they are encouraged to spend some time at Juniper to embrace their own essence of Nurturance, because to each individual, this means something different.

For some it means quiet time after dinner with a good book and for others it means Happy Hour on Fridays with the gang.

For families of our Residents, this may mean attending our Alzheimer's Support group or Bereavement Support group, both held monthly, or joining us for our Monthly Celebratory Friends and Family night. Juniper recognizes that with each individual resident transitioning, there is a family transitioning as well. Our whole person wellness approach encompasses our families too! So please, reach out to us to learn more about our monthly support groups, other support groups in the greater Meadville Community and resources through our Healthy Aging Resource Library. Juniper's mission is Nurturing the Spirit of Life in each individuals life we touch!

Whether individuals have improved in Skilled Nursing Homes and are transitioning towards independence with us, or are seeking a home away from home, Juniper Village can partner with your Nursing Home Rehab department and Home Health Agency to ensure your highest level of independence in your new environment.

Many families look to Juniper Village to reduce costly medical care of the Skilled Nursing Home once their loved one has improved, and others look to us to restore independence in loved ones and to provide peace of mind for the family during the aging process. Whatever your reason for inquiring about Juniper Village, know that you will be provided with the information you need to make and informed decision.

We welcome you in to our Meet and Greet the Juniper Leadership Team on April 27th from 4pm to 6pm. Come to sample our Juniper Berry Wine and spend some time getting to know us. No RSVP necessary.
