Capturing the moments

Deck the halls with smiles and laughter...photos now adorn the hall way in the main corridor at Juniper Village at Meadville. The photo project began this winter, when the cold and biting weather kept most of us inside. I started to think of ways to warm up our cozy home and bring the joyful moments we share to light. I took on this creative challenge and began to search for an idea. Ideas often find us when we least expect it.

It was an especially cold and blustery day, during one of my home visits with a family, their mother began showing me the family portraits that cascaded down the stairwell and hallways. Years of love and companionship were on display and the answer was staring me in the face! The project was then given a name, "The Alive In All Seasons Photo Project." Yes, I realize that isn't the most creative title, however, by giving it a name, I had hoped it would take on a life of its own...and it did.

I thought about the spirit of the project and what we should capture. The journey of searching out those magical moments and collecting photographs of everyday Connections Activities began. Pretty soon, the project had reached its goal and we were ready to frame. The best part of the project has been to see the smiles of the resident's faces as they recognize themselves and reminisce with their friends and family.

You are invited in to see the progress of the photo project that will soon expand into other areas. While you are here, take notice of the new Bistro in the Alden Room. Families and Residents are encouraged to join in a cup O joe during their visit.Posted by Picasa
