Crawford County Fair: Staying Connected

Greetings from the Crawford County Fair! Interesting things always happen at the Crawford County Fair. Passers by connect with people they haven’t seen since possibly last years fair. They choose between which booths’ wafting aroma to eat and perhaps struggle with a stroller or wheelchair over “those hoses”. Recently engaged couples and new mothers excitedly look at Victoria’s Photography packages. At the end of the day they meet to connect with friends and family and talk about the new product brochure they got from the window dealer, the sample of maple products from the Howles booth, and the band that is playing tonight. I have heard stories of bellyaches from eating that funnel cake and promises of “never doing that again!” Some laugh over the memories, some groan and some live for fair week. Whatever path you choose that day it’s all about staying connected. We gather, as people, to share and experience new things. I look around our fair booth at all of the Juniper culture statements and feel proud to be a part of a company that truly “gets it”. Juniper Village recognizes that, as people age through the seasons of life, staying connected to the community, the environment and to dear friends is important. Each of us, on our own levels, needs that connection for whole person wellness. Juniper recognizes that connections are different for each person; therefore, the Connections department offers a variety of options for our community, from our “Best Friends” celebrations to “Friends and Family Nights” to more independent options for those who prefer a smaller group. Our staff is encouraged to continue education and is provided opportunities to improve upon their own personal goals. The Meadville community is invited in for events, celebrations, educational and organizational meetings. Juniper is usually right in the middle of something! As I sit here and reflect on the week thus far, the best occurrence wasn’t actually the fair itself, but the people that I was able to connect with. It is always fulfilling to help families who are in need and considering the health and safety of an aging loved one. Juniper Village is Assisted Living; it is a Resource, a Celebration, and an Opportunity. “Wellbeing is yours for the taking!”
